need dev to fix interactive brokers api sync for coffee import hedging desk

Category: Web Development

Budget: 2750–2750 USDC

Posting this for a long-time client of our agency. They are a green coffee importer based in Seattle and they hedge physical bean purchase contracts on the ICE exchange through Interactive Brokers. Right now their risk desk calculates lot spreads in Excel and manually punches orders into Trader Workstation, which caused a messy double-fill two weeks ago.

We brought on a freelance dev last month to build a lightweight FastAPI wrapper around the IBKR Client Portal Web API / TWS Gateway to push automated limit orders and pull live futures quotes directly into their custom portal. Problem is, that developer took a full-time job and left the repo mid-stream. The WebSocket connection keeps dropping heartbeat tokens overnight, so when the London session opens at 2 AM, the frontend shows stale spreads and throws 504 gateway timeouts on order execution.

We have a hard deadline here because their Central American harvest forward contracts lock in on May 12th and their head of trading won't authorize trades without automated risk stops running. The stack is Python (FastAPI), React + Tailwind on the frontend, and containerized on AWS ECS. We need someone who has concrete experience dealing with Interactive Brokers TWS/Gateway socket quirks and order lifecycle callbacks so we can stabilize the connection loop and verify execution receipts reliably.
